Second week, from 5 to 11 of February

This is the second week in Sneek. After a well-deserved break, we returned to school. On Tuesday, February 6, we went to do practical training at the school's cafeteria/restaurant called Kiem Plaza. It was a quite calm day since most students had the day off, so there weren't many customers. We only made 90 sandwiches, salads, and did some cleaning. I'm not sure if I would call it a productive day.

Wednesday, February 7, was a better day. We attended an event called HorekaEvent in Leeuwarden. A teacher from the school took us there. It was a catering convention with numerous distributors, brands, and products including food, drinks, clothing, and kitchen equipment. Many booths offered free samples, allowing us to taste various foods and beverages on display. In the end, it was a tiring but enjoyable day.

This week also involved exploring the city, discovering beautiful places around the center of Sneek.

From Thursday, February 8, to Saturday, February 10, I did my practical training at the restaurant Mark 23. It's a concept of a Grand Café, functioning as a cafeteria and restaurant in the mornings and offering gourmet-style meals for lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, I didn't spend much time cooking in the kitchen as it was always busy, and the chefs didn't have time to guide or teach us how to prepare dishes. I only had the chance to cook a couple of dishes on one of the three days. Most of the time, I was involved in "mise en place," preparing ingredients for the day. One interesting thing was that I learned how to prepare the pizza dough they used in the restaurant.
